Erquy, the scallop capital, is a charming seaside resort.<\/strong> As the 4th largest fishing port in France, nearly a hundred boats still sail the English Channel every day to catch fish, shellfish, and crustaceans, all landed fresh at the morning auction.<\/p>\n

In Erquy, you can enjoy lovely bike rides or walks along the famous customs officers’ path: the GR 34. Don\u2019t miss out on a boat trip either! The resort offers many activities to help you fully appreciate the stunning bay.<\/p>\n

Erquy, the peaceful village of Asterix and Obelix?<\/strong> By Toutatis, it seems the two heroes once hunted wild boar on the cape and heartily enjoyed cervoise (Gaulish beer) in Erquy\u2019s village square. Indeed, Asterix\u2019s creator, Uderzo, is said to have drawn inspiration from this scallop capital to imagine the indomitable Gauls\u2019 village, known for its festive and combative spirit.<\/p>\n

This revelation has become an obsession in Erquy, as the evidence piles up: the menhir quarry and sandstone quarries, the place called Tu-Es-Roc<\/em> (a play on words meaning “You Are Rock”), and the three stones west of the cape that appear in Uderzo\u2019s albums\u2026 Rumor even has it that Falbala\u2019s great-great-granddaughter still turns heads during long winter evenings in the village.
